Max develops his professional practice advising national and international clients in a number of legal areas, specifically transactional matters, and he has broad experience advising clients in the energy sector. Max’s experience includes the activities of the power sector, such as generators (including renewables), suppliers, traders, and final users in energy-regulated markets. Likewise, he advises those clients in the hydrocarbons sector (Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream activities), including matters related to petroleum, natural gas, and refined oil products.
Max’s professional practice includes transactional, regulatory, corporate, environmental, and antitrust matters; it has allowed Max to participate in the implementation of many investment projects in Mexico, and day-to-day operations of companies in several sectors, such as energy, automotive, infrastructure, mining, health, manufacturing and construction.
Additionally, Max boosted his experience acting as in-house lawyer in an international petroleum company, advising on all legal matters required for the implementation of its operations in Mexico, and participating in several important transactions for the company.
Max obtained his law degree at the UNAM, and he obtained his Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with the “Global Energy and Environmental Law” concentration. Likewise, he has a postgraduate diploma in antitrust matters from the Universidad Iberoamericana. Before joining Sanchez Devanny, Max worked in a major law firm in Mexico City in its civil/commercial litigation and arbitration practices. He also participated as research assistant in the Legal Research Institute of the UNAM.
